Linda A. Bell, PhD
Linda A. Bell is Provost of Haverford College, and has been a long-standing professor in their Economics Department. Dr. Bell was previously a senior economist in the research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and has held visiting appointments at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and most recently at Stanford University in the Department of Economics.
Eve E. Ellis
Eve Ellis is a certified Financial Planner and Certified Investment Management Analyst at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. She serves as one of the fewer than 200 Chartered Advisors in Philanthropy in the nation, offering investment advisory services to non-profit organizations and endowments as well as to philanthropic individuals and families. Ms. Ellis played Division I Varsity Tennis at Yale University, and is currently a Board Member of Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel. From 2003-2007, she chaired the United States Tennis Teams and served as National Coordinator of USA Tennis for World and Regional Maccabiah Games as well as coached the US Men’s Tennis team in the Maccabiah Games in 1985. She was also coach of the Columbia University Division I Varsity Women’s Tennis Team from 1985-90. She is engaged in many charities, and is a member of the Investment Committee of the Ms. Foundation for Women. Her Grandfather was philanthropist Frederick R. Mann.
Joanne Harmelin
Joanne Harmelin founded Harmelin Media in 1982, after working in a senior capacity at a leading advertising agency in Philadelphia for more than ten years. She is a 30+ year media veteran, and has been honored regionally and nationally for her work. Joanne is a member of The American Management Association and the Forum of Executive Women. She is a board member of Penn Liberty Bank, Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the Philadelphia Zoo, the Walnut Street Theatre, the Philadelphia Police Athletic League, the Arden Theater, the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia, and the Lokoff Foundation.
Professor Ian C. MacMillan
Professor Ian MacMillan is the Dhirubhai Ambani Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Wharton School and the Executive Director of the Sol C. Snider Entrepreneurial Research Center. Formerly, he was Director of the Entrepreneurship Center at New York University, and taught at Columbia and Northwestern Universities as well as the University of South Africa. Prior to joining the academic world, Professor MacMillan was a chemical engineer, and gained experience in gold and uranium mines, chemical and explosives factories, oil refineries, soap and food manufacturers and the South African Atomic Energy Board. Professor MacMillan has been a director of several companies in the travel, import/export and pharmaceutical industries, and has extensive consulting experience, having worked with many international companies throughout the U.S., Asia, and Europe. His latest books, The Entrepreneurial Mindset and Market Busters were written with Rita McGrath.
Garry Maddox
Garry Maddox is currently Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Pomerantz & Company. Prior to that, Mr. Maddox played professional baseball as centerfielder with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he earned eight consecutive Golden Glove Awards in addition to winning the World Series in 1980. Mr. Maddox has also served on the boards of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the National Adoption Center, The Philadelphia Foundation, and the Philadelphia Scholarship Fund. In 1997, he founded The Youth Golf & Academics Program, a non-profit volunteer organization that tutors at-risk elementary school children while offering the challenge of learning the game of golf.
Marciene S. Mattleman, EdD
Dr. Marciene Mattleman is the founder and executive director of After School Activities Partnerships, which provides after-school recreation and enrichment programs serving more than 12,000 young people. She is one of the foremost respected leaders in urban education and has been impacting the lives of Philadelphia’s school children for decades. A former Temple University professor, Dr. Mattleman was the founding director of the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy. In 1988, she launched Philadelphia Futures, a mentoring and scholarship-aid program for low-income youngsters. Ten years later, she started Philadelphia Reads, a program to help children read at grade level by third grade.
Dawn Staley
Dawn Staley is head coach of Women’s Basketball at the University of South Carolina. A north Philadelphia native, Dawn Staley was USA Today’s high school basketball player of the year in 1988. She was then a three time all American while at the University of Virginia. Ms. Staley went on to play professionally, internationally and in America, and for the US Olympic team. She achieved the most Women’s Basketball wins in Temple University history before accepting her position at South Carolina. Ms. Staley founded the Dawn Staley Foundation, providing programs for low-income middle school girls in Philadelphia.
Judith M. Vietri
Judith M. Vietri has been an educator for 39 years. Her career in the Lower Merion School District took her from a teacher at Cynwyd Elementary School, to Supervisor for Special Education, Principal at Penn Valley Elementary School, and, for ten years, Principal at Belmont Hills Elementary School, a position from which she retired in June of 2009. Ms. Vietri has been a board member of the Education Foundation of Lower Merion since its founding in 2006, and continues to serve the students of Lower Merion in her retirement.
Judy Wicks
Judy Wicks was owner and founder of Philadelphia’s 25-year-old White Dog Cafe, and has been a national leader in the local, living economies movement. She is co-founder of the nationwide Business Alliance for Local Living Economies, and founder of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia. She is also president of White Dog Community Enterprises, a non-profit 501c3 dedicated to building a local living economy in the Philadelphia region.
Sally A. Zasloff
Sally A. Zasloff is a former managing director of Assured Guaranty/Financial Security Assurance. She also served as managing director of Municipal Surveillance at FGIC. Sally played first singles and first doubles Division I Varsity Tennis at The University of Pennsylvania.
